#BodyPositive 2016 – celebrate achievements, not existence

We celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, New Year and other cultural festivals.  But can we deny that our most meaningful celebrations involve achievements?  I still remember coming in first in class and first in standard.

Did the celebration for your promotion at work feel especially good?  Did you glow with pride when you celebrated your child’s excellent results?  Right, you get it.  All celebrations are fun, but they are always the sweetest when they involve rewards for our hard work.

This year, set important body image goals for yourself and work towards them.  Be realistic about what you can or cannot achieve.  Even if it’s just 1 goal this year, it’s more important that you succeed than to set numerous goals without achieving any.

If you want to wear a fatkini this year, go order 1.

If you want to revamp your wardrobe, make time for shopping.

If you want to experiment with makeup, prepare your tools and cosmetics.

If you want to be more trendy, browse magazines and fashion blogs.

Achieving your goal is worth celebrating, so give yourself permission to have your favourite treat.  Drink that champagne.  Savour the caviar.  Eat that damn burger and pizza already!  Have that decadent chocolate cake!

More importantly, achieving goals does wonders for your self worth than you can possibly imagine.  Apply yourself as studiously to improving your body image as you do to work or any cause you support.  Celebrate the results, go on, you know you deserve it!

Wishing you fun,
