#BodyLove 2016 – the effects of self love and self loathing

What the body activists get right is the need for women to love ourselves.  Self-loathing is detrimental to our well being and prevents us from leading fulfulling lives.  If we hate ourselves, we project it outwards and become extreme aggressive, nasty people.

Oprah Winfrey and Queen Latifah are heavier women who obviously love themselves.  They radiate positive vibes and these draw admiration, support and respect from people.  These vibrant, lovely ladies have a very tough spine indeed!

I love to contrast them to angry writers over at XO Jane, Jezebel, This Is Thin Privilege, Shakesville, Huffington Post and other similar online publications.  Their malice and spite are outward manifestations of their own self hatred.

Women who love themselves aren’t easily offended.  Neither do they accuse people of lacking sympathy, compassion, kindness and empathy.  They don’t lash out easily against what is perceived as an insult.

Women who love themselves don’t insinuate that people who disagree with them are haters, trolls and shamers.  They don’t imply that these people have ugly personalities.  They don’t try to shut down dissenters by name-calling and malice.

Women who love themselves are too busy with their activities and lives to bother about others’ opinions.  After all, they’re too occupied to post everything on social media.  They’re fully enjoying each gathering and interaction.

Be a woman who loves yourself in 2016.  Let it be your resolution and stick to it.  It’s 1 of the best resolutions you can ever have.  The rewards you reap from the effort are enormous.

Wishing you fun,
