Body positivity – just give up already!

There was a chap, Kenny, who used to work with us and boy did he make a huge mess for the team!  There were so many audit issues with his files, too many complaints from our various business partners and customers and he didn’t believe in teamwork at all.

Now I know not all fat people are lazy, but he was.  He also went around telling the rest of the team members not to work so hard.  You know why?  So he wouldn’t feel so bad for not trying harder.  So he wouldn’t feel so bad for not putting in more effort.  So he wouldn’t feel so bad for being lazy.

The body positive LIARS are the same way.  By perpetuating lies that healthy living is torment, they discourage their members from following suit.  You know why?  So they won’t feel bad that they gave up.  So they won’t feel bad when somebody else can succeed.  So they won’t feel so bad for not having enough willpower to stick with it.

By perpetuating lies that people who take care of their appearance are shallow and vapid, by encouraging their members to #effyourbeautystandards, they won’t feel bad that they don’t bother to groom themselves.  They won’t feel bad that they don’t bother to dress well.  They won’t feel bad that they don’t make an effort to develop a sense of style.

This lady swims.  She eats well.  Yes, she’s still larger, but her bones are thicker than mine so she can’t be my size and still look healthy.  But she bothers to groom.  She dresses in flattering clothes and matches her outfits with accessories.  She styles her hair.  She paints her nails.

Nothing about her screams slob.  Nothing about her screams pasty.  She radiates health.  She has the energy to travel and engage in hobbies like photography.  Are there men who’ll take her?  Of course!  There’re men who prefer fleshier women and it shows that she hasn’t just given up on herself.

If you love yourself, you won’t throw your hands up in the air and declare that ‘it’s too hard’.  You’ll still try your best to improve, you’ll still make an effort in every aspect of your life.  It’s a victim attitude versus a survivor’s.  Which would you rather be?

Wishing you fun,
